A method of dog training called clicker training has become popular in recent years.
Clicker training is a training building positive – it's rewarding the behaviors that we like instead of punishing behaviors that we do not like. When the dog does what we want it to do, on "click" and give him a treat. So we train the dog to understand that means "click" well done "and that treatment is ahead.
The reward can be food such as beef roast, caressing, playing with a tennis ball, or anything else that your dog may enjoy. If you want to use a food reward, you must ensure that you are using small pieces of food because you do not want your dog to worry about eating and forget about clicker training.
Dog Training with a clicker can be more effective than positive words like "good dog" because dogs are very sensitive to body language and tone of voice will receive conflicting signals depending on what mood you are.
3 Ways to train your using the clicker:
1. Start somewhere with minimal distractions. The first idea is to show the dog the meaning of clicker.Stand in front of him, click once and give a treat. At this stage, the dog must do nothing for his treatment – he just needs to learn the association the 'click' and treat routine. Spend some time doing a "click", then treat. Generally give 1 treat. Always treat after clicking – Even if you accidentally clicked. The dog must have absolute faith in the 'click means treat "routine.
2. Only click once. Do not get excited when he does something wonderful and click, click, click, click – it takes consistency to the concept of "click" and treat routine.
3. Keep training sessions short around five minutes. Studies show that the establishment of reliable behavior with training clicker requires significantly less time than the standard dog training.
Clicker Training is the only method of dog training can be safely and effectively using positive reinforcement rather than punishment of behaviors. At this point, clicker training is not universally practiced method of dog training, but most people use clicker training trainers to learn basic obedience and other classes.
