Dog Tricks: Best way to teach “shy” or “paw to nose”?
I am after tips on teaching this dog trick.
Commonly known as “shy” or some simply call it “paw to nose” when the dog brings his paw up to his nose as if he is hiding behind it.
Thanks.
Our dog did this naturally, and we used the clicker to reinforce the behaviour.
I have heard that another way to teach this is to tie something around the muzzle, or place something sticky on the top of the muzzle. The dog will want to get whatever it is off, and therefore put his paw up there when he realizes that simply tilting the head does not work.
Reinforce whenever he puts his paw there with a click and treat Repeat this a few times, and eventually give it a name. Practice a few more times with the name, and then take away whatever was on the muzzle. Then keep practicing
My Dog Skiff, dog tricks, very cool!
